in regards to AAWA
by johnamos inoh how i wish i could just write out something that would cause you all to know and understand that what i say is true.
or i wish i could tell yall that i am going to do something like cause an earthquake (with jehovahs spirit backing me) at a certain place and time, then after i posted such info then it occurred just as i said...then maybe you would listen and believe what i say.. .
and even more so, your lack of knowledge and belief in jehovah and in his word the bible.

John, how long have you been a JW? Do you remember the Korean War? Missile crisis? USSR nuclear threat? I am too young but here's my point. Every time there's any kind of war threat of conflict, the Dubs get all excited thinking the big A is here. They even write about it in publications. Look at how many times their speculation about who the king of north has changed! Now they remain strangely quiet about it. One would think Christ would let his boys know who that is, don't you?
There have always been worse times than now. Violence has steadily declined over the centuries, especially so in the last 50 years. Average living conditions for humans are the best they've ever been. True, not everyone has access to the medical treatments and luxuries that we take for granted, but at least they're there now.
You need to face this fact: these are not the last days. IMO the bible is a storybook but you're a believer so I'll make you this challenge... Listen carefully.
When this silliness with NK blows over with or without incident I want you to return here and continue waking up from your JW slumber. NK is not a real threat, so WWIII isn't going to happen. If the UN steps in, all the better. Remember, the UN has to target RELIGION to fulfill myth.. Er.. Prophecy. And I hope they do. The world could use less religion.
You sound like a sincere guy John, perhaps just a bit ignorant. Can't blame you, brainwashing will do that to a person. I hope you figure your shit out.

Wow! Barrold Bonds..... What a tool.
This all should have been implemented a long time ago, it would have been so much easier to carry out. Now it just seems like a giant fustercluck.
Doctors deserve to be paid whatever they can get for their work. Yes Barrold, even psychotherapists. It's not 1952 anymore, your disbelief in these types of therapies is no longer reasonable. There is no excuse to be so ignorant in this day and age.
TBH the US is fucked anyway, might as well get some healthcare outta the deal. If it didn't get done under the Obama admin, it might have taken another decade or more. Think about how much more difficult it will be then, when the US is even more broke.

Man you are so fortunate to have woken up together! Many of us still dream of the day when our spouse will wake up. I do, every day. If she wakes up and none of our families or friends do, I'm happy.
You have a lot to be thankful for. I'm not sure who you should be thankful to.... You know what, thank each other.
Congrats

That would be a great tat! And thanks for sharing that bit of your story. It's so simple, but for someone who would never believe that the WT would lie its gold. Even if it didn't happen right away, it's an awfully big seed to plant, very easily.
jst for fun you should turn in one hour, and start the process all over again. You will really screw with their statistics.
I like this idea! Ballsy though. A report with a zero on it drags down the cong average. One big reason why if you show no interest in reactivating and aren't causing any trouble, the elduhs will often just drop it. That way they don't get reamed by the CO when he comes around.

Wake up a few more?!
Put on the coffee pot, bake some cookies, and put out the welcome mat.
Look how many woke up just from catching wind of it from those who went to the annual meeting, or finding it on the JW.org site. I think we can fully expect a stampede of new members on JWN come late August, early September.
Perhaps we should ensure that any JW who googles "faithful and discreet slave," "new light," or "Christ's domestics" lands on either jwfacts, here, or somewhere else they will get actua truel information.

Gojira, could you please elaborate on how your friend talked to you and your family and got you out? It sounds too easy..
Forgive me if you've already explained it all in another post. Perhaps you could direct us to there? This could be very valuable information to those of us with family and friends still in the cult.
Thanks!

Do WT Bible NWT pick and choose word meanings to suit their agenda?
by *lost* incan anyone offer thoughts on this.
any examples.
i just discovered this.. nwt v kjb isaaiah 14;12. kjv - uses lucifer.

Captain Obvious
Yes, it's called "loading the language." A common tool used by cults.
They also like to change the meanings of word when that particular word describes them in an unflattering way.

THE BLIND SPOT identifying the refuting target of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Terry inthe life of a human being progresses toward maturity and peaks and then gradually atrophies into old age, inability, possibly debilitation and then death.. it is the same for all people unless they meet with an accident or misfortune along that continuum.. i propose that we measure and test the virtue of being a jehovah's witness by focusing on the blind spot of their religion.. .
what is the blind spot?.
the watchtower society is in major denial that the members of that religion will actually grow old and die.. as a consequence of this major blind spot the members are less likely to include provisions for that inevitability.. the active and committed jw spends a preponderance of their vital years serving the needs of the group and not for saving for old age.. once that outstanding performance lessens and fizzles into decrepitude--the society itself makes no provision for their senescence.. .

Excellent post Terry.
Honestly, I see a lot more of the younger generation (25-35) JWs saving for retirement, even if only a little at a time. Those who aren't working the minimum amount to stay alive pioneering that is. It's often said that there's nothing to lose.seeing their parents and grandparents grow to retirement age without a nickel in savings will make even a Dub think. Some save, while their parents (near retirement age) tell them they're crazy, the end will be here before we know it! 5.. 10 years AT MOST.
